PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Britten Storage Facility
TRAVERSE CITY, MI
🔥 Challenge
The Britten Storage Facility in Traverse City required a fire protection solution for a high-risk warehouse environment. The facility housed high-piled rack storage of Group A plastics, a material classified as a high fire hazard under NFPA 13. Due to the combustible nature of these plastics, a standard sprinkler system would not provide sufficient protection or meet code requirements.
🛠 Solution
AFP Specialties designed and installed a custom fire suppression system tailored to the unique challenges of the facility. The system included a high-capacity fire pump to deliver the required water pressure and flow rate necessary for effective suppression in dense plastic storage areas. The system layout, sprinkler configuration, and pump specifications were all engineered to comply with national and local fire codes, with close coordination from design to final inspection.
✅ Outcome
The result was a fully integrated, NFPA-compliant fire protection system that ensures rapid response and fire control capabilities for one of the most flammable storage categories. The facility now meets all safety and regulatory requirements, has passed AHJ inspection, and is equipped for long-term reliability. This project reinforces AFP’s commitment to protecting commercial and industrial facilities through expert system design, code adherence, and turnkey installation services.
Ingram Horse Barn
WILLIAMSBURG, MI
🔥 Challenge
Installing a fire suppression system in a high-end, timber-framed horse barn required exposed piping that not only met fire code but also complemented the building’s architectural style.
🛠 Solution
We designed and installed an exposed piping system with a thoughtful layout, precise alignment, and finishes that blended with the barn’s timber construction. Every component was placed with both function and aesthetics in mind.
✅ Outcome
The result is a code-compliant fire protection system that provides full coverage while enhancing, rather than distracting from, the barn’s elegant timber-framed architecture.

Boardwalk Building
TRAVERSE CITY, MI
🔥 Challenge
The Boardwalk Building at 232 State St. in Traverse City required a complete fire sprinkler system for its modular factory-built units. The design had to ensure full coverage in each unit and integrate seamlessly when assembled on site.
🛠 Solution
We developed a custom sprinkler system design tailored for modular construction, incorporating unit-by-unit protection, provisions for standpipes, and main-level coverage. Every component was engineered to meet NFPA standards and local code requirements.
✅ Outcome
The final installation provides reliable, code-compliant fire protection throughout the building, with a design that supports both the factory assembly process and on-site construction efficiency.
